''"Komm näher, Kind", bat Selen, und etwas schüchtern näherte sich Rahel dem goldintarsiengeschmückten Tisch, an dem die Tempelvorsteherin Platz genommen hatte. Als die Augen der Jungkatze über das große Pergament glitten, welches ausgebreitet darauf lag, maunzte sie erstaunt auf. Auf dem Tisch lag eine feinsäuberlich gezeichnete Karte der ganzen bekannten Welt. Informationen aus allen im Blick der Goldäugigen Katze liegenden Ländern waren zusammengetragen und von geschickten Händen in dieser Karte eingetragen worden. Rahel erkannte Andune in der Mitte, die kleine, fast zweigeteilte Insel inmitten des Meeres. Um Andune herum sah sie die bekannten Konturen der Nachbarinseln, wie Andune selbst eingebettet in den unendlich scheinenden Ozean.''
