Alliances form the backbone of the world, whether these are war, trade or simply peace alliances. In Eressea, there are some areas where you can not only help other parties “in spirit”, but also support them in terms of rules, which is done with the HELP command.
If one party helps another, this does not automatically mean that the other party will do the same. The only way to clarify this is to put it to the test. There is a reason why these rights are not granted automatically: if this were not the case, you could load enemy units with stones, attach a few peasants to the enemy elite troops, or divert all the taxes from the local lord of the castle.
About the individual areas of support:
- GIVE HELP
Your own units will accept everything that allied units give them (silver, items, etc.). This is effectively a permanent CONTACT for GIVE.
Attention! For the transfer of individual persons or units to units of another party with the command GIVE other-unit number MEN, the CONTACT command must still be used explicitly by the receiving party! A CONTACT may also be necessary for some spells.
- HELP COMBAT
- Own combat-ready units (those with combat status front and rear) will intervene in a Combat if the allied party is attacked.
- HELP SILVER
With this the own units support the allied party in maintenance, if they still have silver left after the maintenance for the own units. If the silver of the allied units is not sufficient to feed them, the own units will help out with silver. No HELP GIVE of the receiving party is necessary for the pure provision of upkeep via HELP SILVER.
- HELP GUARD
- Cancels the hindering functions of GUARD and extends the useful functions to the target party: Normally guarding units will not let another party tax money, recruit, or mine resources, and sometimes foreign units traveling through the region are stopped. If this help is set, the units of the other party are allowed to pass through, mine and recruit unhindered.
In addition, allied parties may be allowed to carry out orders for a long time after long battles (see End of Battle).
Finally, allied parties are hereby allowed to enter their own castles and ships.
- HELP FACTIONSTEALTH
If you give your own units with HIDE FACTION NUMBER xx a different party ID, parties to which you give this helper status can still recognize the real party.
- HELP ALL
is the summary of all individual areas.
